Dr. Vincent D’Ascoli
Dr. Vincent D’Ascoli has been practicing orthodontics in Northern Nevada since 1982. After three decades of New York hustle and bustle, the natural beauty of the Sierras and Lake Tahoe along with a local population of interesting and diverse individuals, lured him and his family to Nevada.
A graduate of the City College of New York and New York University College of Dentistry, Dr. D’Ascoli completed a one-year general practice residency at Lincoln City Hospital in the South Bronx with special emphasis on oral and maxillofacial surgery, followed by a year of family practice before being accepted at the post-graduate orthodontic residency program at New York University. After completion of the orthodontic residency, Dr. D’Ascoli was in private practice in Central Park South in Manhattan, Richmond Hill and was appointed an associate clinical professor in the Department of Orthodontics at N.Y.U.
The process of Board certification in orthodontics is very stringent with written exams, oral exams and specific case presentations. Our practice is proud that Dr. D’Ascoli became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 1989. Dr. D’Ascoli is currently a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists and he is on the medical staff at Carson Tahoe Hospital. He is former president of the Nevada State Society of Orthodontists. As co director of two local study clubs in the Reno-Tahoe-Carson area, Dr D'Ascoli often lectures locally and nationally on the latest advances in orthodontic treatment.
Always interested in the latest technique for delivery of invisible orthodontic tooth movement, Dr. D’Ascoli was an early proponent of braces behind the teeth (Lingual Braces) and clear ceramic braces. With the advent of Invisalign® treatment, most aesthetic conscious patients can be treated with the clear removable aligners. Our practice has always been interested in the most efficient appliance that can cause minimal discomfort and our brace of choice is the Speed appliance, a self-ligating bracket we’ve used since 1986.
Suresmile, a new robotic 3-D wire delivery system for excellent orthodontic results in 35-50% shorter time is the latest investment we have made to provide our patients with state of the art care. Only 230 orthodontists offer Suresmile to their patients out of 10,000 offices in the country. The wire is what moves the teeth so the type of brace used such as DAMON or even SPEED is less critical to the end result.
